Live

East Gippsland is the major geographic and economic region in eastern Victoria. Covering over 21,000 square kilometres, or 10% of the State, the region stretches from Bairnsdale in the west to the NSW border and is easily recognisable on any map as Victoria's eastern triangle.

East Gippsland is home to more than 42,000 people and is a growing region. The region claims a range of significant natural and ecological advantages and is fortunate to have retained large areas of National and State reserves and Australia's largest inland water system – the Gippsland lakes – making the region clean, green and beautiful.

Living in Victoria's East means replacing city vistas of concrete, traffic and pollution with scenery made up of colourful fishing and boating villages, turquoise lakes and rivers, high-country grandeur, isolated beaches, rugged coastal outcrops, a temperate climate and friendly faces.

Those who have made the move to East Gippsland often wonder why it took them so long! They now enjoy a work-life balance that they had previously only dreamed of whilst also having a more affordable lifestyle. With lower than average mortgage payments and Victoria's highest percentage of freehold home ownership, many in East Gippsland have traded mortgage stress for lifestyle.
