Paynesville Featured on Sunrise

Popular breakfast television show, Sunrise has recognised Paynesville as one of Australia’s happiest towns as part of the Vaalia / Sunrise Happiness Campaign.

Based on an entry form from local resident Chris Svenson, Sunrise sent a crew to Paynesville last Thursday 15th September to discover its secret to happiness. Presenter James Tobin was greeted by an excited crowd of locals both on land and on water, who gave him a very happy East Gippsland welcome.

East Gippsland Marketing worked closely with the show’s producers prior to the visit to ensure that Sunrise featured the many happy elements of Paynesville and provided viewers of their show with a good example of what they would experience as visitors to our beautiful region.

As a result, the show centred on our happy, healthy community members from dancing primary school kids to the peaceful Tai Chi adults; music was of course an important element with high school band ‘The Mango Skins’ playing alongside teacher Gerry Ciavarella on the floating tin shed; and finally our boating culture played a major role with boats of all shapes and sizes out on the sunlit McMillan Strait.

East Gippsland Marketing wishes to thank the numerous organisations and individuals who came together to help make the event such a great success including Chris Svenson, Rotary Sunrise, Paynesville Lions Club, Riviera Meats, Paynesville Foodworks, Enterprise Cruises, Bulls Cruisers, Paynesville Primary School, Bairnsdale Tai Chi group and Fisherman’s Wharf Cafe.
